To commemorate the
Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the
Slater Area Historical Association is featuring three veterans in their Civil War Cemetery Walk,
Oley Nelson,
Severt Tesdell, and
Thomas Weeks. Those attending will gather at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Hall, 318 First Avenue, and proceed to the Bethlehem Cemetery on the eastern edge of Slater. After the Walk there will be a talk at the Hall with an exhibit of Civil War stories, letters, photos and memorabilia. “Taps” will be played and uniformed Civil War portrayers will be present.
The Walk is free to the public. Rain date is the next Sunday, October 6th.
